I was in Rome for work, so I came to this place as I was curious about the bar scene and Mr. Browns (along with pretty much every bar in Trastevere) was packed, and the gentlemen in the doorway greeted me in English (I do not speak Italian). When my drinks were served, I said "grazie" to the woman serving my drink. She rolled her eyes and walked into the next room and I heard her imitating me. The next time I flagged her down, I tried ordering "one more" in Italian and she laughed in my face and proceeded to walk into the adjacent room and imitate me even louder to her colleagues. It's not like I was drunk or being an obnoxious American, I was smiling and trying to be as polite as I could. The cherry on the cake was when I went to pay, one of the waiters (I think intentionally) stuck a stack of dirty dishes right where I was standing, and the bartender who I was paying immediately moved them (the entire bar was empty so he could have put them anywhere). I was legitimately shocked at the treatment. No wonder it was the single empty bar in Trastevere. I'd like to say that if you speak Italian, maybe they will give you better service, but not a single Italian was there and all the other bars in the area were overflowing with people so I doubt it. At least it was cheap. Also, I ordered a meat sampler that was mostly fat, it was hard not to choke on it.
